Excellent full-time opportunity for a board certified/board eligible Hematology/Oncology Physician to join our employed team of providers at Calvert Health Medical Center, located in Southern Maryland. Candidates must possess (or be eligible for) licensure in the State of Maryland. CalvertHealth’s cancer care program is proud to be a Duke Health Affiliate in Cancer.
The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited residency program
- BC/BE in Hematology/Oncology with licensure in good standing
- MD/DO uses current evidence-based knowledge and skills to make sound, professional physical assessment/examinations; treatment/plans of care; and dispositions (e.g., physiologic, psychological, socioeconomic, cultural) of acute and chronically ill and injured patients
- Excellent communication skills and a delivery style that is welcoming and open with patients
- Experience charting in electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Full, unrestricted Maryland Medical License or willingness to become licensed in Maryland
- Federal DEA clean record
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to accurately assess patient needs and develop appropriate treatment plans
- Participate as a key member of the patient-care team in implementing treatment plans and monitoring patient progress
- Utilize and promote approved standards of care, procedures, methods, techniques, safety precautions, and study protocols
- Participate in the development, review, and evaluation of standard operating procedures and study-specific procedures
- Mentor team members, perform auditing and research, and attend conferences and committee meetings
- Order tests — including biopsy, blood, and imaging — to confirm a diagnosis
- Provide patients with detailed information regarding cancer, their prognosis, and possible interventions or treatment options
- Develop appropriate treatment plans, with measurable goals, that provide the highest level of care while conforming to patient preference
- Maintain quality of life for patients by managing cancer-related pain and the symptoms and side effects of treatment
- Reassess as disease treatment progresses, and pursue alternative therapies or palliative care when necessary
